Join my in person One-Day Iznik Plate Painting Workshop at the comfort of my studio with a small group to explore the beauty of traditional Iznik ceramics.
This hands-on session covers design principles, painting techniques, and pattern transfer onto ceramic plates. All materials and firing costs are included.

Morning Session:
10:00 AM - 10:30 AM: Registration and Welcome
Introduction to the workshop and schedule overview.
Brief history and significance of Iznik ceramics.
10:30 AM - 11:30 AM: Understanding Iznik Design Principles
Overview of traditional Iznik motifs, patterns, and composition.
Demonstration of transferring patterns onto ceramic plates.
11:30 AM - 12:30 PM: Painting Techniques and Color Selection
Discussion on traditional color palettes and application techniques.
Hands-on practice with outlining designs on plates.
12:30 PM - 1:00 PM: Lunch Break
Afternoon Session:
1:00 PM - 3:45 PM: Plate Painting Session
Students begin painting the preprepared designs on ceramic plates.
Individual guidance and support from the instructor.
3:45 PM - 4:00 PM: Finishing Touches and Feedback
Discussion on glazing and firing processes.
Group critique and feedback session.
Conclusion and resources for further exploration in Iznik ceramics.
This schedule ensures participants gain a thorough understanding of Iznik plate painting while having hands-on practice and expert guidance in a single day.
- The workshop fee includes all materials and firing. Finished pieces will be available for collection after firing in approximately one month.
- For your safety and comfort, we recommend avoiding wearing loose clothing, especially items with large cuffs and neckties, during classes.
- Applicants can withdraw their application without incurring any charges up until the 3 days before date of the workshop. No refunds will be issued for withdrawals made after the day of the workshop.
- Minimum 2- Maximum 6 people
- Important Note: While every effort is made to ensure a successful firing process, please be aware that ceramic plates can sometimes break in the kiln due to factors beyond our control. We appreciate your understanding and patience in this traditional ceramic-making process.
