Nazar Ayeti “Verse of the Evil Eye”
This beautiful calligraphy is written with ink using reed pen by calligraphy master and free hand drawn and painted by Nagihan Seymour. It is in classical tezhip and halkari style painted with hand crashed gold and black watercolour paint. 
 
Created using 22 carat (genuine) yellow gold, acrylic and watercolour on illustration board.
 
The size of the board is approx. 47x47 cm
 
This symmetrical art type is called "Tezhip" illumination which means ornamenting with gold, hence gold is one of the main material used in my paintings.
The gold is burnished in a way as to give a beautiful shine which catches the light in different ways throughout the day illuminating the pattern almost giving it life.
